Who We Are

Barn Sanctuary is a nonprofit organization located in Chelsea, Michigan dedicated to rescuing abused and neglected farmed animals and providing them with forever homes.

Barn Sanctuary is home to over 140 rescued farmed animals, including goats, sheep, pigs, cows, donkeys, ducks, chickens and turkeys. All of our residents receive the highest quality of care possible and are free to live their best life. It takes a team of dedicated, hardworking humans to make it all happen and volunteers are a big part of that team.

What We Do

Field trips at Barn Sanctuary offer a unique experience for children in K-8th grades to view our rescued animal residents up close, tour the grounds and connect with our mission to create a safe haven where each individual animal is treated with empathy and compassion. We are in need of volunteers that are excited to share our mission with students from our local community. Volunteers will serve as chaperones for groups of students as they navigate the sanctuary with one of our field trip guides. They will be responsible for connecting with students, leading a craft, or other activity, and most importantly, ensuring the safety of our residents and guests.
