Who We Are

Barn Sanctuary is a nonprofit organization located in Chelsea, Michigan dedicated to rescuing abused and neglected farmed animals and providing them with forever homes.

Barn Sanctuary is home to over 140 rescued farmed animals, including goats, sheep, pigs, cows, donkeys, ducks, chickens and turkeys. All of our residents receive the highest quality of care possible and are free to live their best life. It takes a team of dedicated, hardworking humans to make it all happen and volunteers are a big part of that team.

What We Do

Tours at Barn Sanctuary offer visitors the opportunity to experience the sanctuary firsthand. Led by a sanctuary guide, guests will visit each barn and coop on property and have an opportunity to meet each rescued animal species. Our guides will share resident rescue stories and facts about their species' nature, along with their lived experience in the agriculture industry. Dedicated volunteers are needed to assist with public tours, connecting with visitors, answering questions, and most importantly, ensuring the safety of our residents and guests.
